Enterprise F24ez-HA 3Gb/s Serial ATA-to-2Gb Fibre Channel RAID series with Dual Active-Active RAID Controllers are intelligent and innovative storage subsystems for mission critical and high bandwidth applications. Purpose-built for high volume, fail-safe data storage applications, the Enterprise F24ez-HA RAID combines unprecedented dependability with extreme scalability and superior performance.
Enterprise F24e-HA RAID subsystems are equipped with dual redundant 3Gb/s Serial ATA-to-2Gb/s Fibre Channel RAID controllers with transparent failover and failback functionality to ensure unprecedented data security. Eight 2Gb Fibre Channel host ports on I/O modules are routed to four redundant 2Gb Fibre host channels.
Delivering unprecedented performance and reliability, the Enterprise F24ez-HA RAID integrates a highly acclaimed Serial ATA RAID controller with a wide range of 24 hot-swappable, high-performance, industry-standard 3Gb/s Serial ATA disk drives in a single, uniquely designed, highly accessible 4U storage enclosure that is able to endure the extreme physical stresses placed on storage subsystems today.
The Enterprise F24ez-HA features a RAID Cache battery backup module with Lithium-Ion battery power on both RAID controllers. Equipped with two fully redundant, hot-swappable cooling fan modules and three fully redundant, hot-swappable 405 Watt power supply units, the uniquely designed 4U 19" rack mountable enclosure has been customized to perform in the most rigorous storage environments where data availability is an imperative.
Featuring a 64-bit 266MHz memory bus, the unparalleled bandwidth makes the Enterprise F24ez-HA RAID's high data throughput more than sufficient for small-to-medium sized servers or workstations. Data can be distributed at sustained RAID 5 speeds of up to 770MB/s for sequential reads and up to 460MB/s for sequential writes. The dual independent PCI bus design virtually eliminates all imminent bottlenecks on IO traffic, providing ample throughput for a wide range of applications on single-user workstations, NT, Linux, or Unix-based servers. These applications include disk-to-disk backup, Video on Demand, CCTV, and stream editing.
The Enterprise F24ez-HA RAID is also equipped with error containment algorithms. If a critical component fails, e.g., a cooling module, the subsystem automatically disables write-back caching and assumes the conservative write-through mode. If the fault condition persists for an extended period of time, the subsystem enters an idle state. All of these precautions help ensure safe operation and data integrity.
All critical modules are housed in separate, easily retrievable canisters. In the event of component failure, a hard disk drive, power supply, battery module, or cooling fan can be replaced within seconds. The modules are closely monitored using self-diagnostic features and the help of runtime utilities such as the Java GUI mangement program. Spring screws, securing latches, and key-locks all provide easier access to the modules.
Enclosure monitoring and firmware management capabilities are included in order to minimize the chance of downtime caused by hardware failures. The Enterprise F24ez-HA RAID is smartly managed and guarded against extreme operating conditions. Functions include the event-triggered, adaptive write policy, auto-shutdown, dual-speed fan control, and the various monitoring utilities and approaches included in the powerful Java GUI management software.
A variety of configuration and monitoring methods are available, either locally via the LCD keypad panel and the text-mode RS-232C terminal, or remotely through the Java-based GUI manager. All faulty conditions, including RAID configuration events, module failure, voltage and temperature readings, are instantly reported. A system administrator can select from the following notification methods to receive reports when away from the installation site: LAN broadcast, SNMP traps, email, fax, SMS, ICQ, and MSN Messenger. Even the notification utility can be installed redundantly on two different machines to avoid the chance of blind time.
