The DataStor NAS™ M4-SA8002 Xeon RAID NAS is a high-availability modularized NAS server that incorporates storage capacities of 576GB to over 300 TeraBytes with the latest NAS and Serial ATA-to-2Gb Fibre Channel RAID technologies. The DataStor NAS M4-SA8002 Xeon RAID NAS is composed of a 4U NAS-Engine along with a SANgear™ 8002 Active-Active RAID Controller pair, which connects to over 49 FibreXpac 16000 JBOD storage subsystems.
The SANgear 8002 RAID Controller Pair enables the exceptional scalability of the DataStor NAS M4-SA8002, and was designed from the ground up to be the most powerful and versatile Active-Active Fibre Channel RAID controller on the market. Featuring 8 fully independent 2 Gb Fibre Channel connections per controller, dual special purpose processors, and a high speed multi-channel bus architecture, these controllers move data from drive to desktop faster than any other controller. Their advanced design accelerates RAID operations, improves read and write performance and maximizes data throughput. The 8 independent channels enable you to put the bandwidth where you need it addressing host or disk side bottlenecks. The SANgear 8002 Controller can scale to support 840 drives – delivering over 300 TB of storage under a single M4 NAS-Engine.
The DataStor NAS M4 is a high-performance 4U NAS-Engine featuring single or dual Xeon 2.4GHz processors, dual 10/100/1000 copper gigabit Ethernet connectivity, up to 16GB RAM, hot-swappable redundant power supplies and integrated dual channel Ultra320 SCSI controller, and 1 to 8 LC Optical HBA ports for maximum storage throughput. The NAS operating system is mirrored on two hot-swappable 36GB 10,000RPM WD Raptor™ SATA disk drives with hardware RAID 1 to maintain maximum uptime. Additional software, including backup client or server applications, may be loaded on the NAS via its integrated CD-ROM drive. An external tape backup device can also be connected to its built-in SCSI controller for disaster recovery.
