The DataMax™ 4160 RAID Tower is a superior data storage option for mission critical and high performance applications requiring a small desktop solution. With a total height of only 9-inches, the DataMax 4160 RAID Tower can fit just about anywhere you want to put it.
The DataMax 4160 is equipped with an Ultra160 to Ultra DMA RAID controller to offer fault tolerant data protection and 100% transparency to the host operating system. The DataMax 4160 is a fully-featured data protection subsystem with storage capacities up to one TeraByte, dual Ultra160 SCSI host channels, built-in environmental monitoring, hot-swappable redundant power supplies, hot-swappable disk drives supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5 and JBOD -- all in a portable 9-inch tall tower chassis! It is the ideal storage solution for applications requiring high data throughput, continuous availability, and flexibility in configuration.
System reliability is ensured by an environmental monitoring unit which tracks the enclosure temperature as well as individual disk temperatures. Hot swappable redundant 200W power supplies are continuously monitored and high-quality advanced cooling modules provide an optimal environment for high RPM drives. If any irregularity in these systems occurs, the monitoring unit alerts the administrator.
With a menu driven front panel display, a terminal serial port, and real time drive status indicators, the DataMax 4160 offers a variety of options for monitoring and management. Low cost of ownership, a user-friendly interface and exceptional levels of performance round out the DataMax 4160 RAID Tower.
ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE
The DataMax 4160 RAID combines an extremely high speed microprocessor with the latest chip set, SCSI hardware technology, perfect firmware, and an artistic design. The result is one of the fastest, most reliable Disk Array systems on the market.
Supports virtually all popular operating systems, platforms and network environments because it works independently from the OS.
Ultra160 SCSI channel interface to your Host computer, up to 160MBps transfer rate provides the processing and access power for you to handle complex and large files.
Selective SCSI ID 0 to 15, support with active termination.
Tagged-command queuing: allows processing of up to 255 simultaneous data requests.
Selective RAID levels 0, 1, 3, 5, 0+1, or JBOD.
Up to 512MB cache memory (128MB Standard).
Serial monitor port allows you to connect a PC or terminal for RAID/LVD disk array configuration and management.
Serial modem port for fax and pager remote notification and failure alarm.
SOLID RELIABILITY
Automatic failed disk drive detection.
Auto Rebuild - When a replacement disk is installed (or Hot Spare disk detected), DataMax 4160 RAID provides automatic data rebuild without any commands or functions keyed in. (Transparent to Host).
EFFICIENT MAINTENANCE
An LCD status panel displays a comprehensive readout of the operating status, and the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) LED indicators on each HDD tray display the individual HDD status.
When disk failure occurs on a member disk of the array, the built-in buzzer sounds and the LCD status panel points out the location of the failed hard disk drive. In addition, the HDD LED status indicator will light "Red" on the failed tray, allowing you to perform quick, efficient, and correct maintenance.
Hot Swap Hard Disk Drive Trays, Power Supplies, and Cooling Fans can be removed or installed without powering down the DataMax 4160 RAID and interrupting data access.
