StorBank-SE Benefits:
Easy to Manage and Deploy - The StorBank-SE family of products are designed to have your storage up and running in minutes. The simple setup procedure and intuitive web GUI speeds NAS deployment. The web-based management console can be accessed from the internet or intranet making remote administration effortless and convenient.
High Performance NAS - The class-leading performance of the StorBank-SE NAS with the efficient NAS OS and XFS file system.
Cost Effective Integrated Platform - StorBank-SE NAS Systems support unlimited client access, minimizing costs for expansion. The Integrated StorBank-SE units support up to 16.8TB and are available in a range of configurations designed for SOHO to Enterprise implementations.
Heterogeneous Environment Support - StorBank-SE NAS systems includes support for NFS, CIFS and Apple File Systems. IT Departments can standardize on a single NAS platform for Windows, Linux, Unix and Apple machines.
Simple Data Protection - With the StorBank-SE scheduled snapshots, restoration of data is simple and convenient. The StorBank-SE NAS also integrates agents for common backup software packages including Arcserve, BakBone, Veritas and Dantz. Hardware RAID is standard and these NAS units also support many UPS' and integrate with SNMP management.
Easy Disaster Recovery - Block-based replication is also available between two StorBank-SE units, simplifying the setup of Disaster Recovery sites. Units can also be mirrored to create and online and backup copies of your data.
StorBank-SE NAS OS Details
Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) - A powerful and convenient Web-based GUI (Graphical User Interface) makes remote management a simple task. Using your browser, you can manage StorBank-SE NAS systems from anywhere on the network.
File System With Journaling Support - StorBank-SE journaling support makes the file system more reliable and the easy recovery from unexpected shutdowns quicker.
Resource and User Access Control - The simple sharing function enables the sharing of disk storage and the setting of network access permissions. Network access permissions can be set to read or read/write, and they can be used to control the access of individual users. Regarding access control and authentication: This function integrates LDAP and ACL access control mechanisms. The credentials and permissions of both local users and domain users are honored.
User Disk Quota Control - Users with large disk requirements can be constrained either by assigning them a dedicated share or by restricting their individual usage through individual user quotas.
Backup Client Support - StorBank-SE backup client agents help administrators to back up NAS servers with backup software from Veritas, Dantz, CA BrightStor ARCserve, and Bakbone Backup.
Using the client agents, you can administer complete data protection for all client machines. This improves data transfer and provides network security, task monitoring, real-time directory browsing, and cross-platform backup support.
Data Synchronization to External NAS (Data Cloning) - With StorBank-SE NAS, you can synchronize files between two StorBank-SE units. If the same file already exists, it copies only differences between the files, therefore saving network traffic. This data cloning function allows users to generate a mirror copy of an NAS server, and to keep two identical copies on the network.
Network Transport Protocols
TCP/IP: This is the Suite of Protocols that includes TCP, IP, UDP, and ICMP. It is the base set of communication protocols currently employed in worldwide Internet communications.
NetBEUI (NetBIOS Enhanced User Interface): NetBEUI is an enhanced version of the NetBIOS protocol used by network operating systems.
Supported Client Operating Systems
Microsoft Windows
Linux
Unix
Apple OS
ACL (Access Control List) - An ACL in the StorBank-SE NAS notifies the system which access rights each user has to a particular file directory or individual file. Each user in the network environment can have a right to set up own access rights to share files and folders with other users. Access rights can be set remotely in the network neighborhood.
Windows Active Directory / NT Primary Domain Controller support - The Active Directory Services are the integral directory service within the Windows® 2000 operating system. In the current version, StorBank-SE NAS supports a subset of Active Directory features in the NT Primary Domain Controller compatibility mode.
LDAP (Open LDAP) - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is an information directory in which users and groups can be defined and shared across multiple machines and multiple applications. StorBank-SE NAS employs native LDAP. As a result, it can be integrated into other systems using LDAP. Multiple StorBank-SE NAS systems, can also be configured as the "StorBank-SE NAS Server Farm" and be managed centrally.
Multi-Snapshot with the scheduling function - The snapshot function enables an immediate point-in-time image of the share volume. The snapshot image is used for consistent backup, while users still have uninterrupted and complete access to the shares. Multi-Snapshot with the scheduling function allows users to take a snapshot at a specified time (e.g., automatically every hour). If a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly modifies a file, he can still recover the data from a previous snapshot image.
Span & Stripe Option - As part of its Disk Preparation function, StorBank-SE NAS offers a Span & Stripe option. Disks can be spanned or striped, depending on the capacity and performance desired. The Span option offers a flexible scalability of the storage capacity by simply adding a new disk array. The Stripe option offers a better performance by striping 2 or more disk arrays.
Standard Gateway Support - StorBank-SE NAS can be used in business environments with structured networks, and it allows for remote management and optional data access via Intranet or Internet.
UPS Support - Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) can be attached to StorBank-SE NAS through a standard serial port, and it provides safe shutdown in case of power failure.
Supports Network UPS - StorBank-SE NAS is capable of using the SNMP interface for communication with other SNMP-enabled servers for a smooth server shutdown in case of power failure. The server with UPS sends (or receives in case of slave mode) the power failure signal through the network to (or from) other servers and will shut down all servers in the network.
DHCP Server Support - The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a communications protocol allowing network administrators to centrally manage and automate the process of assigning IP addresses in a network.
Supports Multiple Sub-Networks - StorBank-SE NAS supports usage of 2 or more network cards to access separate sub-networks. It allows users to select services to be enabled on a specified NIC.
Secured Administration Access - Secured Administration Access (using SSL) provides industry-standard security. Administrators can access and configure the NAS using SSL connection only. StorBank-SE NAS allows users to assign multiple administrators with different administrator rights.
No individual client or server licenses are required - StorBank-SE NAS offers support for unlimited clients. There are no hidden client license fees, and the StorBank-SE will grow with your organization.
